Matt Behrens - Founder and Partner
Matt Behrens is an experienced investor, board member and partner to executive teams.
Matt spent 8 years as a partner at the Najafi Companies, a large single-family office. As a partner, he led or was deeply involved in over a dozen acquisitions representing over $100mm of equity value, over $1B in annual sales and multiple highly successful exits. Additionally, as the founder and managing partner of B2, Matt has led numerous investments supporting world-class founders.
Matt’s experience as an investor and board member spans nearly all industries, including consumer goods, distribution, media, oil and gas, insurance, manufacturing, travel, B2B service, healthcare services, event ticketing, food kiosks, direct lending, and more. Matt works closely with executive teams to support strategy, finance, M&A and operations. Philosophically, Matt believes that his role as an investor and partner is to find, support and empower management teams. Management’s job is to evaluate options and make decisions that take care of employees who take care of customers, which will create substantial value over the long term. When working with Matt, you will hear a constant refrain from him: focus, focus, focus. There are a million great ideas, opportunities to chase or people to work with. Matt's job is to help you determine your top priorities so you can put your head down and execute on those priorities, knowing that you say no to the distractions.
Prior to becoming an active investor, Matt was a management consultant at a top strategy consulting firm and an engineer at a large defense contractor. He earned bachelors degrees in electrical engineering, mathematics and economics from the University of Arizona and an MBA in Global Management from Thunderbird.
Alex Walsh - Partner
Alex Walsh is an experienced advisor to investors and small business owners. He leads business development efforts for B2 and its portfolio companies and supports diligence and transaction execution efforts.
Alex has spent the past 15 years as an independent consultant for public and private companies with a focus on capital formation, management buyouts, M&A and corporate finance strategy.
Alex is a trusted advisor to business owners seeking to transition out of day-to-day operations. His experience spans nearly all industries, with a specific focus on family-owned businesses. Alex’s vast network has enabled him to facilitate dozens of partnerships, joint ventures, executive hires and other business relationships. Alex earned his bachelors degree in Economics and Management from DePauw University, where he was a three time Academic All-American on the golf team.
