Matt spent 8 years as a partner at the Najafi Companies, a large single-family office. As a partner, he led or was deeply involved in over a dozen acquisitions representing over $100mm of equity value, over $1B in annual sales and multiple highly successful exits. Additionally, as the founder and managing partner of B2, Matt has led numerous investments supporting world-class founders.
Matt’s experience as an investor and board member spans nearly all industries, including consumer goods, distribution, media, oil and gas, manufacturing, travel, B2B service, healthcare services, event ticketing, food kiosks, direct lending, and more. Matt works closely with executive teams to support strategy, finance, M&A and operations. Philosophically, Matt believes that his role as an investor and partner is to find, support and empower management teams. Management’s job is to evaluate options and make decisions that take care of employees who take care of customers, which will create substantial value over the long term. When working with Matt, you will hear a constant refrain from him: focus, focus, focus. There are a million great ideas, opportunities to chase or people to work with. Prior to becoming an active investor, Matt was a management consultant at a top strategy consulting firm and an engineer at a large defense contractor. He earned bachelors degrees in electrical engineering, mathematics and economics from the University of Arizona and an MBA in Global Management from Thunderbird.
